For the final core project I have decided to choose food photography. I have chosen food photography because its something I haven't done before and as I watch some cooking shows I see how food is prepared so it would be a great opportunity to photograph the final product. Also food advertisement is all around us for example restaurants need to advertise their food in order to get customers either in brochures, in their restaurant or on television and it would fantastic if they used my image to promote their food. Another reason why I chose food photography is because I have done a bit of work in the other options in class and food photography is different.
The concept of the project is to take 3-5 sets of photographs for the international wine and food society and the food academy at flannels. If my images are good then they will be used on the international wine and food society's website and displayed at Flannels food academy.
From this topic I will produce a book with all the pictures I took and hopefully the recipe to go along with it. I will also produce an exhibition which is mandatory at Flannels. All my photographs will be completed by the 25th of May and the cook book will be completed by the 1st of June when the exhibition will take place.
The photographs will be produced hopefully with natural lighting but if that doesn't go to plan or it doesn't look quite right then I shall try borrow some studio lights to set up around the food to give it the natural lighting look. I shall also take some props with me to make the plate look more interesting. As I have researched some food photographers and they have props in their photographs which make them more interesting but doesnt loose the focus of the food. One photographer is Jean Cazals:
